The Forgotten Furniture Piece That Started It All: The Story of the Bar Cart
A Return to the Art of Entertaining
Once upon a time, the bar cart was a centerpiece of every elegant gathering, a symbol of hospitality, refinement, and effortless charm. From golden-era Hollywood homes to Parisian salons, it rolled between rooms carrying glasses, bottles, and laughter.
Then, somewhere along the way, it disappeared.
At Studio Caramel, this disappearance sparked our curiosity. Why did such a beautiful, social object vanish from modern interiors? And could we bring it back, not as a trend, but as a timeless symbol of conviviality?
A Call That Changed Everything
It all began with an unexpected phone call.
A renowned chef asked us to recreate a forgotten piece of furniture, something that once stood proudly in his grandmother’s home: a bar cart.
We accepted the challenge, not knowing that this single project would define the DNA of our studio. We had nothing but our creativity, passion, and belief in craftsmanship. The result was a piece that blended nostalgia with modernity, warm brass tones, smooth wood, and geometrical lines.
That first cart didn’t just serve drinks. It served emotion. We named this one after the chef’s restaurant. The Baron bar cart.
From Beirut to Paris: A Journey of Reinvention
The bar cart became our voice. It carried with it the spirit of Lebanese hospitality, the culture of Sunday lunches, and the joy of sharing.
When it was featured in international design magazines, something clicked, people weren’t just seeing a product, they were connecting to a story.
From there, Studio Caramel became known as the bar cart designers. Our creations travelled from Beirut to Paris, New York, Singapore, and Dubai, appearing in luxury hotels, celebrity homes, and prestigious brands such as Baccarat, Lamborghini, and Soho House.
Each new cart reinterprets the idea of conviviality through a fresh lens, sometimes minimalist, sometimes bold, always crafted with intention.
The Bar Cart Today: More Than Furniture
Today, the bar cart is no longer a relic of the past. It has reclaimed its place as a symbol of modern hospitality, one that invites people to pause, pour, and connect.
At Studio Caramel, every cart tells a story. Some evoke the quiet charm of a Parisian apartment; others echo the warmth of a Beirut gathering. But they all share one belief: design is not just about form, it’s about creating spaces where people belong.
Looking Ahead
The story of the bar cart continues to evolve.
What started as a forgotten furniture piece has become our signature, a reminder that true design always begins with emotion, and that even the smallest object can carry an entire culture’s spirit.
From that first cart to our latest creations, Studio Caramel celebrates the art of hosting, the beauty of detail, and the timeless pleasure of togetherness.
